Video and music details to the latest TV ad from Audi, which is titled ‘Dream’ and this time focuses on their approved used cars.
This new Audi advert shows water spraying up and lights shining on to the road surface, but not the actual car responsible. This represents the car someone is dreaming of owning, which by the end of the video, becomes reality.
Featuring the lyrics “All I do the whole night through, is dream of you. And with the dawn, I still go on, dreaming of you. You’re every thought, you’re everything. You’re every song I ever sing. All I do the whole night through, is dream of you”, the song playing in this Audi advert is called ‘All I Do Is Dream of You’.
Update: The version of the song used in this Audi advert was recorded by producer Faultline and features vocals from dodie. This new cover was released for download at the beginning of July. End of update.
The song was written by the American lyricist and film producer Arthur Freed and was performed in the 1952 American musical ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ by Debbie Reynolds & Girly Chorus. The version we hear in this Audi commercial appears to be a new cover and was likely recorded especially for the ad campaign, possibly by musician and producer Faultline.
Following on from the German car manufacturers ‘Send In The Clowns’ and ‘If I Only Had A Brain’ ads, this latest release continues the theme of re-recording songs from musicals to use as their advert soundtracks. Although Faultline and Lisa Hannigan’s beautiful cover of Send In The Clowns was released for download, Faultline’s If I Only Had A Brain was not, so it remains to be seen if this new version of All I Do Is Dream of You becomes available.
The Approved ‘Dream’ advert video was posted to the Audi UK YouTube channel on 12 June, 2018.
