Snickers new ‘You’re Not You When You’re Hungry’ TV advert stars pop music legend Sir Elton John, who finds himself in the middle of a rap battle!
In stark contrast to those rap competitors before him, Elton begins singing one of his classic hits, but that song selection and style doesn’t go down well with friends or rivals. One of his mates then points out that Elton always loses his edge when he’s hungry so, after getting him to eat a Snickers bar, transforms him back to his everyday rapping self.
For those of you who’re not fans of hip-hop or rap music, the genuine rappers starring in this commercial include Monique Lawz and Emarr Kuhomano. The guy who hands Elton the Snickers is Bolton-based artist Femi Nylander, while the person Elton eventually transforms back into is American rapper Boogie
And for those of you unfamiliar with the work of Sir Elton John, the song he gave a brief performance of in this commercial, before being interrupted, was ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’. The single was a duet with female vocalist Kiki Dee and was first released back in 1976.
This 60-second ‘Rap Battle’ ad video was posted to the Snickers UK YouTube channel on 30 August, 2018.
