This new #MAXFOOTBALL Champions League commercial shows two guys delivering cans of Pepsi Max to a seemingly empty football stadium. The combination of a ball and a pitch all to themselves understandably proves too much for the pair to resist, much like the cans they’d already helped themselves to.
Before their kickabout has barely begun, the guys are stopped by Real Madrid’s Colombian international James Rodríguez, who quickly shows them the blue card. I have no idea what that actually represents, but following its appearance the group are quickly joined by Man City’s Sergio Agüero and Vincent Kompany. There’s also a brief glimpse of Arsenal’s Chilean winger Alexis Sánchez.
After a few tricks and flicks from the pros, one of the delivery men eventually volleys the ball into the empty goal. The film ends with a last-minute appearance from Man Utd keeper David de Gea, with nobody appearing too keen to take the Spaniard on.
Assuming this ad, which was posted to YouTube on the 23rd of February, 2016, was filmed before the end of the winter transfer window, Pepsi may have expected de Gea to be playing alongside Rodríguez at Madrid by now.
