Vauxhall Astra Advert – Band and song details for the ‘New Astra’ TV and YouTube commercial. #NewAstra
Vauxhall’s TV ad for the new Astra features a song by the indie rock band Kaiser Chiefs, titled ‘Oh My God’.
The track was originally released by the group in 2004, but it wasn’t until its re-release the following year that it achieved significant sales success. Brought out just ahead of the groups 2005 debut album ‘Employment’, Oh My God reached number 6 in the UK singles chart.
Again including the distinctive lyrics: ‘Oh my God I can’t believe it, I’ve never been this far away from home’, many of you may also remember Mark Ronson’s cover of the song, which featured vocals from singer Lily Allen. Released in 2007, this version peaked at number 8.
Kaiser Chiefs are a Leeds-based band made-up of frontman Ricky Wilson, keyboard player Nick Baines, guitarist Andrew White, bassist Simon Rix and drummer Vijay Mistry. Another of the groups tracks ‘Coming Home’ is currently being used in the governments ‘Help To Buy ISA’ advert.
Uploaded to Vauxhall’s official YouTube channel on the 21st of December, 2015, the above ‘New Astra’ ad demonstrates some of the cars latest high-tech features. These include its own super-fast 4G WiFi so passengers can stream video and live TV on the go, plus fox-dazzling super-bright LED Matrix headlights that shine further than you think.
