Taken from the 1984 action-comedy movie’s soundtrack, the song is officially called ‘Axel F’, named after Eddie Murphy’s character Axel Foley. This distinctive piece of synthesized pop music was composed by the German keyboard player Harold Faltermeyer.

Axel F went on to become a big hit in the singles charts, reaching number 2 in the UK Top 40 and number 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

McVitie’s commercial shows a guy, who’s mother has splashed out on a going-away present of some Chocolate Digestives, presumably arriving at his new student residence. After taking a shine to him and his biscuits, a girl opens the packet to free the kittens trapped within.

The #sweeet video, which was uploaded to McVitie’s UK’s YouTube channel on the 19th of February, 2016, coincides with the release of the brands new augmented reality iKitten app.

Downloadable from the App Store or Google Play, this piece of software allows users to see a cute kitten in front of them on their phone or tablet. From there you can dress up the baby cat and even take selfies with him (or her).
