Music and band details for the latest ‘What Do I Get? Big Flavour Wraps’ McDonald’s TV ad.
A new Big Flavour Wraps advert means it’s time for a new punk rock soundtrack. Following on from last years ‘Live Bolder’ ad, which featured an unknown punk/indie song, this 2016 edition instead goes with a far more recognisable tune. As the videos title suggests, the song used is called ‘What Do I Get?’ – a 1978 single from Buzzcocks.
The track was the English punk bands second release and after reaching number 37, provided them with their UK chart debut. What Do I Get?’s lyrics were penned by the groups singer-songwriter/guitarist Pete Shelley.
In addition to having a BBC Two quiz show named after them, Buzzcocks are probably best known for their later 1978 release ‘Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve)’, which peaked at number 12 in the UK top 40.
As was the case in McDonald’s previous Big Flavour commercial, the latest ad shows a tattooed female employee preparing a pair of wraps, this time for a very excited looking young male customer. I guess he must really enjoy his chicken wraps.
The 30-second video was posted to the official McDonalds UK YouTube channel on the 8th of June, 2016. Update: A very slightly different version of the video has now been released for Summer 2017, again featuring the same Buzzcocks soundtrack.
