The new AW15 M&S TV advert features the worldwide hit single ‘Uptown Funk’, which is performed by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. However, due to the commercial only using an instrumental version of the song, you don’t hear any of Bruno Mars vocals in the ad.
Released in November, 2014, Uptown Funk quickly became the hottest tune on the planet, reaching number 1 in many countries around the world, including Britain and the United States. Oh, and the songs official music video (which you can watch at the bottom of this page) is currently close to receiving one billion views on YouTube.
Here in the UK, many peoples first introduction to the track was through a cover version by X Factor contestant Fleur East. Yes she covered the song before it was even released, that’s marketing for you.
Following Fleur’s performance during the live shows, her version topped the iTunes charts. This unexpected success then led to the original Bruno Mars version having its own release date brought forward.
This September, 2015 TV ad gives us a colourful and high energy look at what Marks and Spencer will be offering in their fresh Autumn and Winter fashion ranges.
The start of the video quickly flashes through the slogans ‘The Art of Style’, ‘The Art of Inspiration’, ‘The Art of Innovation’, ‘The Art of Integrity’, ‘The Art of Cut’, ‘The Art of Craft’ and ‘The Art of Design’. The ad then finishes with the lines ‘Only One Store Does It Like This’ and ‘Only M&S’.
You’ll also be seeing a selection of similar M&S ads over the coming weeks, such as the menswear ‘Art of Tailoring’, the lingerie ‘Art of Comfort’ and the womenswear ‘Art of Autumn’.
