Band and singer details for Heineken’s new ‘When You Drive, Never Drink’ YouTube and TV advert, starring Formula One champion Sir Jackie Stewart.
Following on from Heineken’s ‘Moderate Drinkers Wanted’ commercial and Puerto Rican actor Benicio del Toro’s ‘The Look – Still Practising’ ad that uses the song ‘Barabajagal’ by Donovan, the Dutch beer brand are back with a new campaign, this time designed to discourage drink driving.
Titled ‘When You Drive, Never Drink’, this latest film stars 3 times F1 World Champion and safety pioneer Sir Jackie Stewart.
Combining old racing footage with newly filmed material, this advert shows the Scottish motor racing legend repeatedly declining a bottle of lager in situations where he knows he’ll soon be getting behind the wheel. The video finishes with the Jackie of today being offered yet another drink, only to reply “No thanks. I’m still driving.”
This 90-second ad, which was posted to Heineken’s official YouTube channel on the 2nd of September, 2016, forms part of the companies larger When You Drive, Never Drink campaign, which also includes multiple track-side advertising hoardings at this weekends Italian F1 Grand Prix in Monza. #MoreThanARace #HeinekenF1
The video’s soundtrack is, as I expect you already noticed, a cover of David Bowie’s classic 1977 song ‘Heroes’. The version you hear being performed here is by female vocalist Nicole Atkins and the New York band Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox.
Released in February of this year, this cover is available for download and you can also watch a live performance in the video below:
