Extra Chewing Gum Advert – Post-Lockdown Kissing

It’s all coming back to the men and women in this ‘Get Your Ding Back’ advert for Wrigley’s Extra Chewing Gum that shows lots of actors kissing after the lockdown comes to an end.

Despite being a slightly exaggerated and comical expression of what coming out of lockdown is like, some people may find the earlier scenes in this Extra Gum commercial worrying close to reality. Especially those who’ve been shielding for over a year.

Opening with the message “Sometime in the not too distant future”, the ad shows actors emerging from what looks like a very long hibernation.

Still clutching their bulk packs of toilet rolls, people peer nervously through bearly open doors and feel the sun on their skin for the first time in ages. Natural light! Get it on me!

Eventually, the men and women in the video realise it’s now safe to go out and get together, which leads to loads of them pairing up outdoors and kissing passionately. Seemingly making up for lost time.

What’s the Extra Gum advert music?

Officially a cover but arguably the most famous version of the song, the music in this epic Wrigley’s Extra Gum advert is Canadian diva Celine Dion’s 1996 version of the song ‘It’s All Coming Back to Me Now’, which was written by the American composer, lyricist, producer, and playwright Jim Steinman.
