Singer and song information for the insurance companies ‘Car Sun Visor – Depend on the Dog’ TV ad – Churchill’s latest TV ad sees the nodding dog being sung to by a car sun visor, as they do.
The song being lip-synced to is Cyndi Lauper’s version of the pop-rock ballad ‘I Drove All Night’. The American singer, who’s probably best known for the track ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’, released I Drove All Night in 1989 – two years after it was recorded by Roy Orbison. However, despite being sung first, The Big O’s version was only released posthumously in 1992.
More recently, Canadian diva Celine Dion brought out a dance-pop cover of the song in 2003.
Cyndi Lauper’s rendition of I Drove All Night was taken from her third solo album ‘A Night To Remember’ and received a Grammy Award nomination in the category of Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Whichever version you prefer, I think, as the title suggests, they all make great driving songs – especially at night (obviously).
The above 10-second ‘Depend on the Dog’ advert was posted to Churchill’s YouTube channel on the 4th of March, 2016 and should begin airing during TV ad breaks any time now.
