The AA Advert – Full video, music, and singer details for the motoring association’s brand new ‘Singing Baby – Rollin’ YouTube and TV ad campaign.
The AA’s latest TV advert shows a father making his way to the airport, while his energetic toddler in the back performs some full-on carpool karaoke.
Seeing his engine warning light come on while driving along a dual carriageway, the dad pulls in a lay-by and uses his phone to contact the AA.
Despite the inconvenience of the breakdown and having to call someone out to get the car fixed, the happy baby continues to belt out the words without interruption, even throwing in some appropriate hand gestures.
Featuring the lyrics ‘Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on the river’, the song we see the toddler singing along to is Tina Turner’s version of ‘Proud Mary’. The American singer originally recorded the track back in 1971 with husband Ike, before re-recording this solo version in 1993.
Proud Mary itself was however first written by John Fogerty and released in 1969 by his band Creedence Clearwater Revival.
The above 60-second version of this ‘Singing Baby’ advert was uploaded to The AA’s YouTube channel on the 2nd of June, 2017 and appears to be going down well with viewers. A week later now and the video has already been viewed nearly 150,000 times on YouTube alone and appears to be the most pleasing TV advert of 2017 so far. Featuring the combination of a great uptempo soundtrack and a cute, happy child, The AA’s ‘Singing Baby’ will surely take some beating.
So popular is this commercial, the AA relaunched the campaign first in March 2018 and now again in the Spring of 2019. Could this be one of those ads that just gets reused over and over again? Let’s face it, if the motoring organisation did decide to film a new ad, it would need to be really good to avoid viewers asking them to bring back the singing baby. Hey, maybe one day we’ll even see the singing baby actress all grown up and being featured on Before They Were Famous.
